He liked making maple syrup, beekeeping, gardening, and  cutting lumber at the saw mill.     He was a very self suffient man, able to accomplish work around the house and his property himself. Samuel was very proud of his home. He loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren.      He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Surviving is his wife, Chris  Lundberg McQueen; 1 daughter,  Jody (Eric Nelson) Borland Font of Sugar Grove; 2 sons, Samuel (Teena) Borland of Warren and Jacob (Kate) Borland of Sugar Grove; one step-son, Mark  McQueen of North Carolina; 2 sisters, Vivian (Paul) Sanford of Youngsville and Lottie (Joe) Wood of Illinois; 3 brothers,  Isaac (Sue) Borland of Warren, John (Becky) Borland of North Carolina, and Richard (Sandy) Borland of Tidioute; 8 grandchildren, Kate, Cheyanna, Sammy, Logan, Kaden, Brock, Lainey and Ava; 2 step-grandchildren, Nathan and Alex; his black lab, Jackson  and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.   Underneath his tough skin, was an old softie, who loved his family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  a step-son, Brian McQueen and his wife, Sara; and infant sister, Valerie Borland.    Friends are invited to call  Monday from 5 - 7 pm at  the Sugar Grove Branch of McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. where a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent at www.mckinneyfuneral.com
