Betty A. Gruber Chase Obituary

Betty A. Gruber Chase, 82,  of  Jones Hill Road, Sugar Grove, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Rouse Home.  Born July 29, 1941 in Russell, PA, she was the daughter of the late John O. and Marie E. Jones Gruber.  Betty graduated from Eisenhower Class of 1959.  She married Robert Guy Chase, Sr. in Wheeling, WV, on July 5, 1958 who preceded her in death April 27, 2000. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker who very much enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was an active member in the Sugar Grove Community, belonging to the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and then also the  Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department; where she was the Corresponding Secretary, the Ambulance Squad Leader, and EMT and an EMT Instructor.    She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and the Sugar Grove Senior Center.  She also belonged to the Chandlers Valley Grange and the Warren County Historical Society.  She was a volunteer at the Warren County Fair for many years, serving as the Department Chair of  the Baked Goods and Canned Goods.  Betty enjoyed writing poems and songs and was a published poet and song writer. She was formerly  a cook at the Barley Home and the Sugar Grove Senior Center,  where she was the cook and site supervisor.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John E. Gruber, Robert Gruber, and Ralph Gruber; 2 sisters, Hazel Gruber and Gladys Gruber.  Surviving are 2 sons, Robert G. (Karen) Chase, Jr. of Sugar Grove and John W. Chase of Sugar Grove; 2 daughters, Laurie M. Garcia of Phoenix, AZ and Wanda L. Chase of Sugar Grove; 2 brothers, Theodore Gruber of Mayville, NY and Ray Gruber of Baldwinsville, NY; 5 grandchildren, Christine (Steve) Chase, Robert (Lauren) Chase III, Jose (Aleyda) Garcia, Victor (Naomi) Garcia, and Robert Garcia; 12 great grandchildren, Dakota (Alexis) Chase, Kendra Chase, Bobby Chase, Parker Chase, Nissi Garcia, Iliana Garcia, Gabrielle Garcia, Zoey Garcia, Rebeca Garcia, Grace Garcia and Elias Garcia and several nieces and nephews.  Betty was very excited that she had a great-great grandson on the way;  and that she would become a great-great grandmother.  Family and friends will be received at McKinney Funeral Home, 54 West Main St., Youngsville, PA on Thursday,  from 2-4 and 7-9 and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at 2 pm with  Pastor Jim Hunt, Assistant Pastor  of Calvary Chapel Church in Russell officiating,  Graveside services will follow at Chandlers Valley Cemetery.  The family suggests those wishing to place a memorial may do so to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6215 Sheridan Drive, Unit 100, Buffalo, NY 14221, the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 27 Wilson Street, Sugar Grove, PA 16350 or the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 3 Race Street, Sugar Grove, PA 16350.  Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.mckinneyfuneral.com
