Norbert L. Whiteley, 80, of Rte 958, Pittsfield, PA, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA after a brief illness. Born December 22, 1942 in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late F. Bernarr and Louella Boardman Whiteley. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, the EUM Church in Corry, a Sergeant at the Warren County Jail for 22 l/2 years, a licensed barber previously employed at Orrie Pudder’s Barber Shop in Sugar Grove; and, after retirement he went to work at Corry Auto Auction driving cars for 5 years. He enjoyed hunting and his cat Butchie. He was in a local band, “The Villagers” for a long time and also was in the “still around” band.
Surviving is his wife, Martha Burkett Whiteley whom he married June 16, 2001; 1 brother, Norman “Butch” (Carol) Whiteley of Springcreek, PA; 5 daughters, Rochele (Bob) McClearn of Mercer, PA, Penny (Richard) Cunningham of Alabama, Patty Thomas and Richard Thomas of Corry, PA, Michele (Nubia) Salazar of Boston, MA, and Susan (Jay) Saar of TN; 1 son, Steven “Andy” Whiteley of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, Dominick, Matt (Amy), Sean, Brett, Derick, Sadie, Kyle, Zachary, Anika and Montserralt; 2 great-grandchildren, Brea and Shelby; 1 brother-in-law, Blaine (MaryLou) Burkett of Corry, PA; 1 sister-in-law, Evelyn Smith of Williamsport, Pa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Newhouse Whiteley.
Family and friends will be received for a time of viewing and visitation at the McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. 54 West Main St., Youngsville, PA from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3 pm with Rev. Andy Blystone, pastor of Corry EUM Church officiating. A graveside service will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Columbus. Those wishing to make a memorial may do so in care of Martha Whiteley, 931 Rte 958, Pittsfield, PA 16340 to help defray funeral expenses.
