Lena Marie (Jewell) Peterson

Lena Marie Jewell Peterson, 96, died September 14, 2021 at home.  She was born September 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Johnson) Jewell of Corry.  She was raised by her grandmother, Ida Jewell and Aunt and Uncle, Ruth and Kenneth Jewell as her mother had died in 1927 when she was 2 1/2 years old.  She graduated from Corry High School in 1942 and attended Hoff Business School.

She married Elwood Peterson on September 13, 1947 who preceded her in death on December 15, 1996.  She is a 65+ year member of the Youngsville VFD Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of the Warren County Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary, a 50+ year member of the Youngsville Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and a 70+ year member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and B.I.C. Sunday School Class in Youngsville.  She retired from National City Bank (PNC) in 1986.  She enjoyed traveling. 

 
She is survived by her  children, Karen (Robert) Bires of Youngsville and Randall (Janet) Peterson of Russell; 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren,  1 step great-great grandson,  many nieces and  nephews, 1 cousin, Dorothy Meyer, and  a half-sibling, Virginia

In addition to her husband,  she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Jewell and half-siblings, Everett, Larry, Bob, Walt, Ken, Tom, Charlie and Bill Jewell, Marian Richards, Martha Woods and Carol Shields.

 
Friends may  call at the Youngsville Evangelical Church in  Youngsville,  on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 10 - 11 am where a funeral service will be held at 11 am with Rev. Jeffrey Canter officiating.  Masks and social distancing will be observed.  Burial will follow in Youngsville Cemetery and will be private.
