Obituary

Kenneth “Ken” Hartman, 66, of Mead Avenue, Corry, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 at Corry Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Ken was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 14th, 1956. He was raised and educated in Morristown, New Jersey. His family later relocated to Spartanburg, Pa in 1975.

He drove semi-truck for several trucking companies around the area for many years, loved working on vehicles and tinkering with anything mechanical with his sons. The junk yard was like their candy store. His children and grandchildren were top priority and the light of his life. He loved spending time with his family.

He enjoyed nascar and was an avid collector of many things including hot wheels and pens, to name a few. Many knew to keep an eye on their pens when he was around.

Winter time was his favorite time of the year. He enjoyed the snow, being outdoors, and watching his beloved border collie, Chewbacca, make snow angels and toss the snow at him.

Ken was preceded in death by his loving grandparents and adoptive parents, Joseph and Blanche Hartman, who were such a great inspiration in his life.

He is survived by his loving companion of 45 years, Cathy Pritts; the very best brother, Joseph Benward and wife, Louise, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four sisters, Peggy Vaughn of North Carolina, Mary Verity of Columbus, Pa., Jeannie (Kevin) Kysor of Corry, Pa., and Rhonda (Mark) May of Corry, Pa.; Three sons, Ken “Brute” Hartman and wife, Erin, of Corry, Pa., Jeremy Hartman and wife, Mindy, of Salamanca, Ny., and Jarrod Hartman and wife, Jen, of Elgin, Pa.; One daughter, Amanda Campbell and husband, Chris, of Corry, Pa.; Two special bonus daughters, Tiffenie Akam and Crystal Titch, both of Corry, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, McKenna, Tristen, Ethan, Alexcia, Talin, Seth, Lyla, and Aiden Hartman, Jay, Eric, Dustin, Mercedes, and Katie Seth. 3 great grandchildren, Jayden, Aurora and Elowen, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Mother, Irene Benward.

His family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Corry Memorial Hospital for extending their kindness to Ken and his family while in your care. A special thank you to nurse Jen for your care, kindness and comfort during his stay.

McKinney’s Funeral Home in Youngsville, Pa is assisting the family with arrangements. Very special thank you to Cindy for your kindness and helping us through this process.
