John David Myer

John David Myer, 82, formerly of Sugar Grove, died September 6, 2022 after a brief illness.
David was born September 10, 1939 in Meadville, PA to the late Edna Mae Graham Myer and John
Eugene Myer. He graduated from Meadville High School in 1957. He then joined Heat & Frost Insulators,
Local # 4, Buffalo, NY in 1958 working alongside his father as a mechanical insulator. He worked in the
trade for 43 years except for when he enlisted in the Army from 1962-1964 with the 101 st Airborne in
Fort Campbell, KY. He met Lila Jean Bradley and they were married in 1966 in Atlantic, PA. They moved
to Sugar Grove in 1971 and made their home there for 50 years.
David and Lila were snowbirds and wintered in Kissimmee, Florida from 2001-2021. He enjoyed playing
tennis, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. David was a storyteller and was always able to find a friend or family
member to share his stories with. He always had a smile for all of us.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Lila, who he shared 56 years of marriage. He is survived
by his sons, Robert (Ruth) Myer of Warren, Daniel (Michele) Myer of Indian Trail, NC and William Myer
of Jacksonville, NC. He is survived by his grandchildren Andrew Myer (fiancée Elizabeth Satterfield) of
Sugar Grove, Troy Myer of Warren, Alyssa Myer of Indian Trail, NC and Samuel, Bennett and Lucas Myer
of Jacksonville, NC. He also survived by his sister, Patty (Ken) Garland of Polk, PA and several nieces and
nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Eugene Myer in 2005, nephews Scott
Bradley in 2012 and Gene Reaugh in 2016.
Calling hours are Monday, September 12 from 4-7 pm at the McKinney Funeral Home in Sugar Grove,
PA. A funeral service will be held there on Tuesday, September 13 at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Rocky
Glen Cemetery in Adamsville, PA, at a later date.
