Ida Gertrude Buck, 90, a resident the Rouse Home in Youngsville, and formerly of the Suites at the Rouse where she had resided for 4 years, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Rouse Home.
She was born January 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Ghordis and Lucille (Shorts) Pickersgill and was the widow of Carmon E. Buck. who died in 2002.
She was a graduate of Tidioute High School and the Warren Conservatory of Music. She was a local piano teacher to many children in the community. She was retired from the family hardware business and was an avid knitter who would knit and donate items she made to community organizations. She was a member of Youngsville First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women. Ida Gertrude was a lifetime member of the Youngsville Order of the Eastern Star #478 in Youngsville. Her focus in life was in raising her daughter, assisting in raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara A. Blair of Youngsville, PA; 5 grandchildren, Matthew L. Blair of Harborcreek, PA, Mark N. Blair of Jamestown, NY, Tracy (William Bunk, Jr.) Jones of Warren, PA ,Jennifer (Eric) M. Hern of Lakewood, NY, and Jolene (Scott) Johnson-Olewine of Youngsville, PA; 10 great grandchildren, Shawn, Katie-Ann, Lindsey, John (Jessica), Lindsey, Christian, Chelsea, Ethan, Brady, and Kenzie; 2 great-great grandchildren, Cylas John and Logan.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9 pm at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main St., Youngsville, and also on Wednesday from 10 - 11 where a funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June 4th at the funeral home. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold their ritural at 6:45 pm Tuesday.
