Earl James Inwood, 87, 60 Windy Pines, Pittsfield, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Warren Manor. Born May 17, 1935 in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late Earl D. and Mabel Graff Inwood. He was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School. Earl served his country in the United States Army during active duty at Ft. Drum, NY and then for 6 more years in the Army Reserves. He was employed then for 40 years with the National Fuel Gas Company in Jamestown, NY, retiring at the age of 60. After retirement, he drove cars for the Ed Shultz Auto Group in Jamestown. He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, the Celeron American Legion, and the Sugar Grove AMVETS. He was a former member of the Jamestown Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol where he earned his pilot’s license. He loved traveling in his motor home with his wife, Naomi, where they enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Naomi Sitler Inwood; 1 son, Kevin (Norma) Inwood of Warren, PA; 2 daughters, Dawn Smith of Jamestown, NY and Denise (Barry) Snyder of Pittsfield, PA; 2 grand daughters, Michelle Scheuler of Florida and Ashley Snyder of Pittsfield, PA; 2 grandsons, Joshua and Devin Snyder of Pittsfield, PA; 2 great-grand daughters, Gabriella and Savannah Scheuler of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Clark; 4 sisters, Genevieve McAlpine, Elizabeth Sandwall, Marie Letten and Mildred Near.
Family and friends will be received at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 5 Race Street, from 10 – 12 noon on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 where a funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Sheila Auer, pastor officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 54 W. Main St., Youngsville have been entrusted will the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church or the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
