David Meredith Obituary

David W. Meredith, 87, of Catlin Hill Road, Sugar Grove, passed away October 19, 2023.  Born April 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward and Eva Meredith.  In addition to his wife Joan Meredith of 59 years, he is also survived by 2 sisters; Georgia Belt and Carole Schrieber.  David had 7 daughters that he loved very much, Karen Corrigan, Lorraine (Steve)  Wolosin, Colleen Buresh, Eileen Owens, Tanya Messimer, Rhonda (Frank)  DeSimone and LouAnn Dobmeier. David also had 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren on 1 great-great grandson.   David served his country in the United States Army from 1958 – 1961.   He was known as Poppy and loved to be a “show off” doing somersaults outside on his back deck and always trying to prove he could do more pull-ups and push-ups than his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  You never would go to Poppy’s without playing a good game of poker and having Poppy’s homemade pancakes; and, he would even let you climb on his roof!  He will be missed greatly even by his little Sweetpea (his little Maltese).  David enjoyed life to the fullest and appreciated the little things he had.  David will be remembered as a person that  was always willing to lend a helping hand and always needing a snack.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, and boating.  He was also an active member and on the Board of Trustees at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.  One of David’s proudest achievements was to earn a third degree Brown Belt at Shotogan Karate from Flicks Marshall Arts School at the age of 70.  David was a snowbird.  He and Joan would pack up every fall and head to Florida.  There he also instructed Tai Chi classes and did volunteer work at the hospital.  Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Sugar Grove UM Church from 12 – 2 pm where a service will follow at 2 pm.  After the service, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall and all are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those wishing to place a memorial may do so to a charity of their choice or The Outpost Thrift Store, Main St., Sugar Grove, PA   McKinney Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 W. Main St., Youngsville, PA have been entrusted with all the arrangements.  Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.mckinneyfuneral.com
