Florence Abplanalp, 91, of 612 High St., Youngsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Warren Manor after several brief hospitalizations at Warren General Hospital. Born August 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosie Pillsbury Wilson. She married Jack E. Abplanalp on December 29, 1951, who survives her. In earlier years, Florence was employed by the former New Process Company.  For many years, she and her husband worked side by side serving the community of Youngsville in their restaurant business, Abplanalp's Restaurant and Dairy Bar. In later years, she worked at the Donut Connection in Starbrick and Don Wells Antique Store in Starbrick. Florence loved volunteering at the Rouse Home and also was a home health care provider. She will be remembered by her many friends for her stories, phone calls, swims, Christmas Brunch, macaroni and tuna salad, jello salad, brownies and peanut butter fudge. She was a member of the Irvine Presbyterian Church for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Randy (Brenda) Abplanalp of Irvine and Ricky (Kathy) Abplanalp of Youngsville; 1 daughter, Cathy (Nathan) Proudman of Jamestown, NY; 6 grandchildren, Miranda, Braydon, Stacy, Ryan, Kelly and Seth; 3 great-grandchildren, Johnny, Ethan and Blake; 1 sister, Evelyn “Cookie” Pratz of Sugar Grove; 1 brother, Richard Wilson of Lander, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by a grandson, Barton Abplanalp; 3 brothers, Albert, James and Robert Wilson; 2 sisters, Luella “Tootie” Check and Grace DeWitt.

Friends will be received Saturday, October 10th at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. in Youngsville from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm. Due to current CDC guidelines during the pandemic, masks will be required. We ask that you enter the building from the front entrance unless the handicapped ramp is desired for entrance to the building which is from the rear entrance. This will help us to control the maximum capacity of 50 occupants. A private funeral service will be held on Sunday and burial will follow in the Irvine Presbyterian Cemetery. Those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Irvine Presbyterian Church. Expressions of sympathy may be left by visiting our website at www.mckinneyfuneral.com

Prayers to the family. I luv all of you you were all like family to me. Lots of memories working @ Abplanalps. Florence gave me the good work ethic I have now. She always said if you have time to lean you have time to clean. Never to me of course I always stayed busy. I will never forget swimming in Florence and Jacks pool in the summer time then showering and going to work. Also I will never ever forget her chicken salad that I still make. All the homemade pies 🥧 the fresh cut fries the deep fried hotdogs 🌭 to the Graham cracker pie apple crumb

I am have so many found memories of Mrs. Abplanalp. She is a fixture of my childhood memories. I remember her smile and wave as I ran through the side yard to Haight’s house. I remember sitting at the counter at the restaurant with my father on Saturday mornings when he would take me to work, just waiting for what I still consider to be “the best French fries in the world.” I also remember her giving me my very first 45 record of my own. She was having a garage sale and Cathy was selling old 45s. I still have it! “How do you do” by Mouth and MacNeil. Oh, a life well lived. I hope to leave the same type of legacy. Prayers ascending for all of you.
