Doris J. Carlstrom, 86, of Main Street, Russell, PA, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at her residence.

Doris was born on April 19, 1933 in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Daniel and Vivian Olson Sharp. She graduated from Warren High School.

Doris worked at Penn Laurel, Sylvania and at Fred’s Pet Store. She retired from Sylvania after many years of service as a Lab Technician.

Doris was an avid believer of God and attended many churches over the years including: Otterbein Church and Cable Hollow Church. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed her flower beds. People passing by would stop and admire her flower beds. Her flower beds even made it in the newspaper one time. In her earlier years she enjoyed going roller-skating with her husband. She especially enjoyed painting various items and she would paint with her friends. When her daughter was younger she sewed and made all of her clothes. She also made dolls and quilts. Doris had beautiful handwriting. She liked horses, motorcycles and loved camping.

Doris is survived by her daughter: Lynda (Brian) Olson of Sugar Grove, PA; her son: Jeffrey Carlstrom of Scandia, PA; five grandchildren: Freya Scott, Joel Carlstrom, Erica Steber, Brandon Olson and Jennie Mott; twelve great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Carlstrom whom she married on February 23, 1951 and who died on October 10, 2003; by her grandson: Tyler Russell Olson; four brothers: Donald, Jack, Richard and Charles Sharp and her sister: Harriet L. Motz.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorial contributions to Warren Library Association, 205 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365 or Civil Air Patrol Squadron 505, 108 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365.

Family and friends may call at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 117 Main Street, Sugar Grove, PA on Tuesday from 6-7PM. A memorial service will be held there at 7PM. Pastor Rick Hamrick, pastor of Youngsville Free Methodist Church will officiate.

You meet alot of people in your life. There are some that you might not talk to all the time or might not see for years but they have that special place in your heart. I met Doris shortly after I moved to Warren,Pa. In 1993. We worked together at the Warren Pet Shop. We had such fun together. She was my first Best Friend in Warren. She made me feel special and at home here. She made my family feel special. She was so kind, loving, and put others first before herself. I will never forget you Doris. Thank you for your friendship and love to me and my family. You are together again with your husband. R.I.P. I love you Friend!

Jeff and Lindy: Sorry to hear about your mom. Cindy posted on my Facebook. We had alot of good times many years ago when we had family get togethers. I remember the day Uncle Art and I got engaged..she was very nice to me and telling me about the family. My prayers go to the both of you and your families. May she rest in peace. God bless you all.
