Barbara A. Hoffman, 68, of  Port Charlotte, FL, and also of  Warren, PA passed away on  Monday, August 15, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  She  was born in Warren on  January 31, 1948, the daughter of the late Cornelius G. and Evelyn (Lermer) Barnard and was raised in Youngsville.

Barb graduated with a Master's Degree in Education and taught special needs third grade kids for 20 years. She loved the kids and the kids loved her.  She did a lot of volunteer work over the years with children. She had a deep love of God and was very active in the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville and Faith Lutheran Church  in Florida. She enjoyed sporting around in her Spyder Eclipse Red Covertable with "Barbie" on the front.  She rescued a retired grey hound racing dog and gave him a extended warm, comfortable and loving life.  She enjoyed their winter home in Florida which she  had helped design, and she spent summers in Warren.  After she retired, she made crafts, displayed and sold them at flea markets under the name Nostalgia Framed.  She enjoyed keeping a detailed diary.  She made friends very easily and stayed close with them.  She will be remembered for her  beaming disposition with a "how can I make life enjoyable for you attitude".  She  loved and adored her two grandbabies; and she  spent countless hours with them, two girls that are age 4 and age 2.  She was their Nana!   She will be sadly missed by her husband and companion of many years, and her many relatives and friends.

Surviving is her husband,  Kenneth  Hoffman of Warren; a son,  Shane (Danelle) Wilson of Warren, PA; a sister,  Mary Crisman of Starbrick, PA; 3 grandaughters, Ellise,  Evelyn, and Ashley;  and a nephew and a niece.  In  addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy  Morrison.

Friends are also invited to call on Friday from 2 - 5 pm.  at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main Street,  Youngsville and on Saturday from 10 - 11 am.  at Saron Lutheran Church, West Main St. Youngsville, where a funeral and committal service will follow  at 11 am on Saturday, August 20, 2016.  Those wishing to place a memorial, may do so to a charity of choice.  Family and friends may send a condolence or flowers by visiting www.mckinneyfuneral.com

We are so sad to hear about Barbie. She was such a kind and loving lady. She was always ready to show her new pictures of her grandchildren and always ready to help out at her church. Our prayers go out to JK and her family.

I have great memories of the Barnard girls from Saron. They were the most adorable "Christmas Angels" ever to participate in the Christmas pageant. My sympathy to all of Barb's family, especially Mary at the lose of her 2nd sister.

My deepest sympathy to Barb's family. I was privileged to know her as a warm, dedicated teacher to all children when I was her administrator. I greatly admired her warmth to everyone and sense of humor. She will be missed.
