Belmer "Bum" Hitchcock, 84, passed into the next life Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 12:30 am in St. Vincents Medical Center, Erie, following a brief illness. He was born January 17, 1932 in Jamestown, NY to the late Willard and Edith Morrison Hithcock.  Belmer was a lifelong area resident and member of Lander VFD; he currently lived in Farmington Twp., PA, where he farmed.  He loved animals especially "his girls: (cattle) and making maple syrup for many years.  Also employed as a roofer, he worked for many years in Warren and Chautauqua counties.  One of his favorite things to do was showing of his Model T and giving people rides.  Belmer is survived by his wife Ellen Rapp Hitchcock; a daughter, Barbara Woodfield and husband Bill; three sons, Willard Hitchcock and wife Rebecca, Lander, George Hitchcock and wife Eileen, Jamesown, NY and David Hitchcock, Lander; a brother Roy Hitchcock and wife Sharon, Lander; 12 grandchildren; 13.5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitchcock was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Penny Kohler Hitchcock; two sisters, Rachel Rogerson and Betty Johnson; and two brothers, Stanley and Ford Hitchcock.  Funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in the McKinney Funeral Home, Sugar Grove Branch with burial following in Foster Cemetery, Lander.  Rev. Marcus Briggs will officiate at the service.  Family and friends will be received, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 4 - 7 pm at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials may be made to Lander VFD or a charity of choice.  Arrangements are in charge of the McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.
