Robert "Bob" M. Armstrong, 82, of 241 Thatchers Lane Youngsville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2012,  surrounded by his family at his residence.  Bob was born in Youngsville on June 15, 1930, a son of the late Dora May (McElwin) and Harry  Armstrong.  He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in the Korean War where he  was in demolitions and received the Occupation MED GER and National Defense Service Medal. Bob was retired from his employment with the United States Postal Service in Youngsville where he was a letter carrier for 28 1/2 years. 

He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Youngsville for over 50 years and had read the Bible 6 times in its entirety, a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Youngsville, the American Legion Halgren-Wilcox Post #658 of Youngsville and the VFW in Tidioute.  He enjoyed bowling, putting model airplanes together, playing bingo, listening to Country and Gospel music, and camping.

He was the husband of Catherine M. (Reed) Armstrong whom he married Nov. 26, 1951 in Youngsville at the EUB church and had  celebrated 60 years of marriage  in 2011.

He is survived by  his wife , and children:
Daughter Peggy Jo  (Charles "Pete") Dimmick, of Danville, Pa;
Son John (Sheryl) E. Armstrong, Sr., of Torpedo, Pa;
Son David (Janice) L. Armstrong, of Warren, Pa;
Son Richard (Phyllis)  E. Armstrong, of Pittsfield, Pa;
Sister Martha Shannon, of Youngsville.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Jocelyn Reider, Bobby Dimmick, Danielle Headstrand, Julissa Snell, Katie Armstrong-Wolbert, Vanessa Armstrong, Holly Armstrong, John Armstrong, Jr., Zachery Armstrong, Krystina Armstrong, Stevi Armstrong; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael S. Armstrong on August 21, 1996,  3 sisters and 1 brother.

Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 pm  at McKinney Funeral Homes in Youngsville.

A funeral and committal service will be held at the EUM Church, Youngsville, Pa, at 11 am on Monday, September 24th, with Rev. Anette Gerber, pastor officiating.

Full Military Honors will follow at a graveside service at Warren County Memorial Park.

We share in your loss. Bob and his wife were neighbors as well as brother and sister in Christ at our church. We are sure he is looking down on us smiling. May God Bless the familly in their time of sorrow.
