Marian D. Jones

Marian Dorothy Jones (Grandma Jones), age 92, went to be with her Lord (and as she would say, "her husband") on Saturday, September 10, 2011.  She had been residing at the Watson Memorial Home in Warren for the past 7 years and enjoyed it very much.  

She was born April 18, 1919 in Johnstown, Ohio, the daughter of James and Emma Longberry. Marian had lived most of her childhood in Guys Mills, Pa., and her adult life in the Pittsfield, Pa. area.  She married Walter Lawrence Jones on May 10, 1939 who preceded her in death on March 21, 1981.  They had four daughters, Joyce (Clyde) Vandenburg of Pittsfield, Marilyn (Darrell) Weissinger of Youngsville, Emma Jean (Bill) Rosenberg of Youngsville and Mary (Fred) Lauffenburger of Youngsville, 13 grandchildren, Brenda Carl, Wendy Wilcox, Sheri Nugent, Michael Weissinger, Julie Blum, Troy Weissinger, Charity Seymour, Todd Rosenberg, Tony Rosenberg, Tom Rosenberg, Shelly Schoedel, Lenny Lauffenburger and Fred Lauffenburger, 37 great grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2  brother-in-laws, Harold Wolbert of Pittsfield and Wayne Tom of Guys Mills, Pa,  and a sister-in-law,  Dorothy Anthony of Guys Mills.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 6 sisters.

Marian was a tax collector for Pittsfield for many many years.  She was
a member of Pittsfield Otterbein Church for 65 years.  Children were Grandma Jones life.  She taught Sunday School for 50 years until she was 80 years old.  Her most enjoyable thing was using "Winky Bear" to help teach.  She had taught Religious Education for schools for many years and loved to sing right up until her death.  She didn't really know anyone but she still knew all the hyms!  She was very involved and enjoyed her work at Camp Findley and Wesley Woods, especially pony camp. Her biggest enjoyment was praying for people and sharing the story of Jesus.   She also enjoyed cooking and camping.

Friends will be received at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main St., Youngsville, Pa  16371 from 4 - 7 pm on Wednesday and at Pittsfield Otterbein Church on Thursday from 10 - 11 am at which time a funeral service will be held at 11 am with Rev. Bruce Davis, former pastor officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Pittsfield.  The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Wesley Woods, Camp Findley, Otterbein Playground or Watson Memorial Home.  Family and friends may sign the on-line guestbook or send an e-condolence at www.mckinneyfuneral.com
