V. Elwood Landin Obituary

V. Elwood Landin, 96, formerly of Sugar Grove, left this life and entered into eternal life on Monday, October 30, 2023.  Born in Sugar Grove on September 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Victor and Emma Norbeck Landin. Elwood graduated from Sugar Grove High School in 1945.  He married the love of his life on July 2, 1949, Margaret Marie Brown.  He was a home builder under the trade name, Landin Builders, building many fine homes in the Warren, PA and Jamestown, Lakewood and Chautauqua Lake, NY regions. He was very active in the Sugar Grove Community and will be remembered for his service on the Sugar Grove Boro Council.  He was also a Member of the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church and the Gideons International.  Over the years, Elwood was dedicated to working on church properties in Pennsylvania, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Chili, South America, and Malawi, Africa.  He and his wife  enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states in US and many countries around the world on all seven continents.

In addition to his wife, Elwood is survived by a daughter, Jacquelyn L. Newell of Nashua, NH; a son, Jeffrey S. (Kathleen) Landin of Butler, PA; 3 grandchildren, Eric Newell of Washington, DC, Scott (Amy) Landin of Greensburg, PA, Benjamin Landin, Coraopolis, PA; one great-granddaughter, Alessia Landin; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James C. Landin.

Family and friends will be received for a time of visitation at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 10 am until noon at which time the  funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor P.J. Cathcart officiating.  Burial will follow and will be private in Mission Covenant Cemetery, Sugar Grove.  The family suggests those wishing to place a memorial may do so to the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church.  McKinney Funeral Home, 54 W.
