Jack Abplanalp Obituary

Jack E. Abplanalp, 94, of High Street, Youngsville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his residence.

Jack was born on February 24, 1929, in Warren, PA, the son of the late William C. and Alice G. Atkins Abplanalp.

Jack was a dairy farmer in his younger years on his family farm, he then became a milk man. Jack and Florence owned and operated Abplanalp Restaurant and Dairy Bar and later added a car wash and a laundromat. Their restaurant served the Youngsville community for 53 years. He served as councilman for Youngsville Borough for many years.

Jack served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Irvine Presbyterian Church, Stillwater 547 Mason, Lion’s Club and Youngsville American Legion Post#658.

Jack was an avid bowler and golfer. He bowled in leagues over the years. He was a member of Maplehurst Country Club and played in Youngsville golf league and Youngsville senior league and recently received the lifetime achievement award. He was always tinkering with old lawnmowers and pool filters taking things apart and trying to fix them or make them better. He enjoyed working around his swimming pool and always wanted someone swimming in it.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife: Florence Wilson Abplanalp whom he married on December 29, 1951 and who died on October 7, 2020; 4 sisters: Kate Chrispell, Mary Lawson, Marge Hendrickson and Marilyn Jordan; his brother: William Abplanalp and a grandson: Barton Abplanalp.

Jack is survived by two sons: Randy (Brenda) Abplanalp of Irvine, PA and Ricky (Kathy) Abplanalp of Youngsville, PA; his daughter: Cathy (Nathan) Proudman of Jamestown, N.Y.; his sister: Zelma McAllister of Southampton, N.J.; 6 grandchildren: Miranda (Jackson) Croston, Braydon Abplanalp, Stacy (John) Urbanic, Ryan Abplanalp, Kelly Proudman and Seth Proudman; 3 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Blake and Johnny and many nieces and nephews.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Irvine Presbyterian Church, 885 National Forge Rd., Irvine, PA 16329.

Family and friends will be received at McKinney Funeral Home Inc., 54 W. Main Street, Youngsville, PA on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4-7 PM and Saturday from 10-11 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at McKinney Funeral Home at 11AM. Stillwater Masonic Lodge #547 will have a masonic service at 6:45 PM on Friday. Burial will be in Irvine Presbyterian Cemetery, Irvine, PA.
